Bulman who has just finished three years with the youth team will be given the chance to impress Andy King during pre season training which starts again in two weeks time, and is likely to be signed a month by month basis.
King said: "Rhys didn't have the challenge that we needed last season, and if Bulman can't do that then there is no point in him being here.
If he can show me he is capable of challenging and threatening Evans then we will look at it again."
