Evans joined Swindon two years ago, and soon became first choice 'keeper replacing Bart Griemink, and has now played over 100 games for Swindon.

He was offered a new contract during the final few weeks of the season, but still hasn't given Andy King an answer. Sandy Gray said: "We have been in negotiations with the player's agent over the past few days and expect to conclude the deal in the next 48 hours or so."

In the past week Evans had been linked with a move away from the County Ground, with with Leeds United being named as a club that may wish to sign the ex England Under 21 'keeper, but Evans has been involved in a move to stop a KFC from opening near his home, which had meant that he must have been thinking about staying at Swindon.
