Lapham played in the final two games of the season, away to Huddersfield, then the home game against Chesterfield after defender Steve Jenkins was injured in the warm up against Huddersfield.

Lapham impressed Andy King so much that he was offered a one year contract at the club, only a few months after Lapham was planning to give up on football.

Lapham said: “I’ve got to impress in training and wait for my chance and when that chance comes I’ve got to do my best to take it and stay in the team."

Lapham also thanked Ian Woan, and Iffy Onoura for giving him a chance to play football. "It’s all down to Iffy and Woany, “I just wasn’t enjoying it and I was looking at getting other jobs and maybe playing part-time. But as soon as they arrived last season things were different. The training was different, it was just more fun and a laugh again. They wanted us to win and we just wanted to play for them.”
