The board's plan is for Andy King to stay at the club, but to become a Director of Football where he would act more as a scout for new players.

Mel Meachin who has been manager at Bournemouth, Barnsley and Manchester City has been taking with Swindon today with the view of him joining Swindon as team manager next week.

Mark Devlin said: "The board will meet again this weekend and continue their discussions – whatever the outcome it must be the right one for this football club".

Bob Holt told the official website: "We are trying to be adult and mature about this and that means taking our time and making the right decision. Whoever comes in will have to work under very constrained conditions and so they must be enthusiastic and willing to work in such circumstances."
