Swindon were fielding a full first team, which did include Sam Parkin
who's on trail at the club.
Andy King made a number of changes in the 2nd half including bringing on Neil Ruddock, Craig Farr and Eric Sabin.
Sam Parkin scored Swindon's first shortly into the second half, which opened the flood gates with goals following shortly after by Eric Sabin, who also came close to scoring another, a tap-in by Danny Invincibile, with Ruddock and Steve Robinson also scoring as well as Newport putting the ball into the back of their own net.
Many Swindon fans had taken advantage of the good weather and made the trip down to the Isle of Wight with at least 100 Swindon fans on all four sides of the ground.
Swindon travel to Hereford on Tuesday night.
