For the past 10 years the 45 year old has been a manager in Holland, and is now looking to make a return to English football.
Nijholt said: “I have some great memories of Swindon Town. The fans were always brilliant, the ground was always sold out and I would love to return as manager.
“The English league is the best in the world and I really enjoyed my time playing in it. I have always said I want to return one day and I see this as a great chance.”
