Goals from Chris Taylor and Dale Stephens handed Oldham their first win in five matches as they beat Swindon 2-0.

The Latics got off to a dream start when Taylor gathered a deep cross beyond the far post and turned before curling in an unstoppable shot from 14 yards.

Swindon's first chance saw Charlie Austin shoot straight at goalkeeper Ben Amos, while defender Sean Morrison headed over from a set piece.

Taylor threatened again just after half-time when he ended an Oldham counter attack with an effort which deflected just wide.

Swindon keeper Phil Smith denied Cedric Evina after the winger's 30-yard run but Amos had to be sharp at the other end when David Ball tested his reflexes.

Amos also tipped away Matt Ritchie's piledriver before Swindon went desperately close when Michael Rose hammered a free-kick against the woodwork.

Oldham sealed victory with three minutes remaining as Stephens cracked home from the penalty spot after Austin was penalised for handball.
