Opara never really made it at Swindon starting just one game at the start of last season before being released after only 3 months by Andy King after joining Swindon from non league Grays.
Opara has recently been training with league two side Peterborough United, but has managed to catch the eye of the Chelsea scouts. He's also been playing for non league Cheshunt
Peterborough's manager Steve Bleasdale said: “Lloyd has done well in training this week and we were set to sign him on Wednesday, but Chelsea want him to go there for a trial period so we can’t stand in his way".
The last game Opara played was two weeks ago when he scored twice for Cheshunt in their 2-1 win over Team Bath.
