The 24 year old striker, who has scored over 70 goals for Swindon in his three seasons at the County Ground, but today has signed a 4 year contract with Championship side Ipswich Town.
Ipswich were one of a number of clubs that had all been trying to sign Parkin over the past few months, and he completed his move today in a deal which is thought to be worth around £450,000. £300,000 up front, and a further £150,000 next summer, but Swindon will have to pay Chelsea a sell on clause as part of the deal.
No players were be moving from Ipswich to Swindon as part of the deal, and is not yet known if King will be given any of the money to spend on new players.
Ipswich Town's chairman said: "I view the signing of Sam Parkin as a real coup for the Club. It is a measure of the esteem in which both Joe Royle and indeed Ipswich Town are held."
