Last year he trained with his home country, and is hoping to be called up to be in the squad for next summers finals.
Shakes was recalled to the Swindon squad last Saturday to play in the 2-2 draw against Oldham, which he hoped Trinidad would be watching.
Shakes told the Swindon Adver: "“I was quite surprised when the gaffer called out the team on Friday and with the World Cup draw coming up as well that night , I was quite excited.
“I had a gut feeling Trinidad and Tobago would be in England’s group.”
