The petition reads:
IF NOT SHAW WHERE?
"As Swindon Borough Council have seen fit to effectively block Swindon
Town Football Club's proposal for a new stadium at Shaw, we the undersigned
demand that the council now order their officers work with the club to:
a) Identify a viable site for a new stadium or else work out a feasible
redevelopment of the County Ground
b) Do all in their power to ensure that the club are able to build a stadium
on the site thus identified"
"The Council members waxed lyrical about their support for the club at the
Council meeting that blocked the development of the stadium on the Shaw Tip
site", stated Trust spokesman Tony Norris.
"Well actions speak louder than words, and now is the time for the
Councillors to show that support for the football club. We are calling for
the council to prove their support by working with the club to find a
suitable site for a new stadium development", added Norris.
Petition forms will be available at the Trust Office and around the ground
on match days, and it will also be posted on the Trust Web Site,
