At Christmas time Andy King said he would be releasing Smith, but then Smith went on to finish the season 10 goals in 33 games, and he was offered a new contract, but will now sign a new two year deal with Bristol City instead.
This should now mean that Brian Howard will be offered a new contract at Swindon, but Andy King may have left this too late as Howard has also been linked with moves to Bournemouth and Barnsley.
