Swindon played well in the first half, but didn't have many chances until on 35 minutes Lee Peacock nearly opened the scoring with an overhead kick which struck the bar.
Swindon took the lead in the final minute in the first half when the ball fell to Ricky Shakes who hit the bar in with his left foot from just inside the box to make it 1-0 going into the half time break
On 52 minutes Lee Peacock made it 2-0 from a free kick on the edge of the box.
Swindon wasted more chances to extend their lead including being awarded a penalty on 87 minutes after a foul on Roberts. He took the spot kick himself, but after a recent good record of scoring from the spot this time the kick was saved from the Macclesfield 'keeper.
Overall a good win for Swindon, and it could have easily have been more than 2-0. The win keeps Swindon 2nd, just one point behind Walsall going into Tuesday evenings away game at Peterborough United.
