interested parties around a table to discuss the possibility of redeveloping the County Ground site, fans of the club and local residents have questions
they'd like to ask of the club, the council and the developers about how such a scheme could potentially work.
In an effort to answer some of those burning questions, TrustSTFC have
responded by organising an open Fans Forum to give everyone the chance to publicly quiz the people who should have all the answers;
To that end, Bob Holt, (Acting Chief Executive of STFC), Justin Tomlinson,
(lead councilor for Swindon Services) - the arm of the council currently
dealing with this proposal - will both personally be on hand to answer question on the night, as will representatives of property developers St Modwen PLC, the club's preferred development partners for the proposed project.
TrustSTFC Chairman Tony Norris said: ‘Since the Trust-sponsored motion
calling for the council to work with the football club was unanimously voted
through by Swindon Borough Councillors on November 18th, the club and the council have been in further talks about the practicalities of possibly
redeveloping the County Ground. Although there's obviously still a lot of hard work to do on the actual detail of the proposed project, we expect that the above mentioned guests of the forum will be in a position to answer questions posed on the night.’
Norris continued: ‘This open forum represents an ideal chance for fans and
residents of the town to have their say on how, or indeed if, they'd like to
see the County Ground site to be redeveloped, right in front the guys who will be charged with actually making it happen if the green light is given to
redevelop the site.’
Communications officer for TrustSTFC, Andy Ratcliffe said:
‘It’s been a while since we organised an open-to-all fans forum. The
possible redevelopment of the clubs’ spiritual home for over a century seemed an outstanding reason to organise a forum where fans of the club and residents etc can pose questions and openly debate the subject with club officials and Swindon councilors also on-hand.’
In a message to all Town fans, Ratcliffe added: ‘Don't miss out on this – please come along on the night and make your voice heard in the debate about the possible future of the county ground and our football club.’
The Fans' Forum will take place on Thurs Jan 13th in the Winners' Bar at the
County ground, starting at 7.30 pm prompt. Entry is free of charge.
