Trust Chairman Andy Ratcliffe commented :"We cannot guarantee that we can provide sufficient funding to sign Jerel Ifil or any specific player but what we can guarantee is that all money donated to the Red Army Fund will be used to fund improvements to the playing squad - that is a safety clause which is written into the terms of the fund. The Second Division is a very close league this season and one loan signing could be the difference between making the play-offs or missing out."
"Other clubs have shown what can be achieved by fans banding together. Chesterfield recently signed a player on loan from Leeds in a deal financed by supporters and local businesses. It doesn't matter if your contribution is big or small it's getting enough supporters involved that is the key" added Ratcliffe.
The Red Army Fund was established in the Summer by the Trust along with the Football Club and STFC Supporters Club. Supporters or local businesses wishing to make a donation or set up a regular payment to the fund can find out more by visiting the Truststfc web site at www.truststfc.co.uk/redarmy or by calling in to the Trust office prior to any home match.
Trust representatives will also be out and about around the ground before the next home game against Rushden & Diamonds to collect donations and answer any questions about the fund. Contributors to the fund are advertised on the RAF wall of fame inside both the Nationwide and Arkells stands at the County Ground.
