Loan rangers seal it for Swindon

Loan signings Jake Jervis and Christian Montano helped Swindon to a 2-0 win at Accrington, only the Robins' second league victory on the road this season.

Birmingham striker Jervis had a goal ruled out for offside early on, but he wasn't to be denied on 39 minutes when he raced clear of the Accrington defence to beat keeper Ian Dunbavin for his third goal in Swindon colours.

The visitors bossed the first half, with Stanley hardly having a shot, and forced Reds boss John Coleman into a double substitution at half time - with Charlie Barnett and Leeds loan man Will Hatfield coming on.

Although Stanley livened up, it was Swindon who struck the next blow on 58 minutes. Simon Ferry set up Montano on edge of area and the Colombian, who only arrived from West Ham on Thursday, had the confidence to drill the ball low past Dunbavin for a dream debut.

Jervis again raced free and could have added a third but the Stanley keeper dived low to deny him while, the Reds barely tested another Swindon debutant, keeper Wes Foderingham, who arrived from Crystal Palace earlier this week.

The win moves Swindon up towards the play-offs, while last season's promotion challengers Stanley are struggling this time around with just three league wins.
