After putting Bristol City under a lot of pressure Swindon took the lead after 23 minutes when new loan signing Darius Henderson scored from a header after a Brian Howard corner.

Sammy Igoe had chances to score as well with his best effort coming in the first half with a shot that went just wide, and Henderson also came close to getting a second goal.

Seconds before half time Bristol City equaliser Tommy Doherty scored from close range to make the half time score 1-1.
Bristol City had a number of penalty appeals turned down in the referee, but they were given a number of free kicks on the edge of the area, but they hit two of these into the Swindon's wall, and the others all went wide.

On 60 minutes right in front of the 2,000 travelling Swindon fans Henderson scored a second goal for Swindon. It was from a cross after a free kick from Sammy Igoe down near the corner flag.

Henderson had chnaces to get a hattrick, but had his shot saved, and Swindon were not able to score from the rebound before Bristol City cleared the ball away.

Henderson was then taken off by Andy King to be replaced by Rory Fallon. Andy Nicholas also came on shorty afterwards for his first chance of first team football this season after injury.

With ten minutes to go David Duke was sent off for Swindon for picking up two yellow cards within a minute. First he was booked for a foul, and then seconds later was booked again and shown the red card for not moving back 10 yards.

Despite playing the last ten minutes of normal time, and four more minutes of injury time with only ten men Swindon held on to pick up a much deserved win against Bristol City who are yet to win this season.

Swindon's next game is on Tuesday night when they play Rushden away in the first round of the Carling League Cup.
