Around 2,500 Swindon fans made the trip to South London, although it was a poor turn out by the Palace fans with only 10,238 being at the game when up to 20,000 had been predicted. Swindon played in their white kits for the first time since playing Bournemouth back in 2003.
Swindon played well for the first 5 minutes, but went behind after 8 minutes after a Palace corner found Shefki Kuqi who headed in from close range to make it 1-0 to the Championship side.
Although Swindon had a lot of play Palace defended well which limited Swindon chances in front of goal. Swindon were given a lot less room with the ball then they would at a League Two game. Swindon had 5 corners in the first half, but although coming close couldn't score from any.
On 70 minutes Palace made it 2-0 with a goal from 20 yards out from Jobi McAnuff just making it into the top corner of the net.
A long distance shot by Palace which looked to be going well over dipped and hit the bar, but luckly then went out for a Swindon goal kick.
On 85 minutes Swindon were given a corner which was taken by sub Aaron Brown. It found Jerel Ifil who headed in for his first ever senior goal for Swindon to make it 2-1.
In the final 5 minutes of normal time, and 4 minutes of stoppage time Swindon came close to getting an equaliser, but ran out of time and Palace won 2-1.
Overall Swindon played well and could have at least got a draw out of the game. Swindon had plenty of chances, but it was Palace who took their chances and now go into the 4th round of the FA Cup.
