Hartlepool 1 Swindon 1

164 Swindon fans made the 280 mile trip north in what is Swindon's longest away trip of the season. Swindon were out a number of players who had returned from loan spells, but Jamie Cureton started for Swindon after returning from his loan speel at Colchester.

Swindon started fairly well with a number of early chances but fell behind after 36 minutes when Hartlepool scored with a 35 yard free kick given after a foul by Charlie Comyn-Platt. Gavin Strachan took the free kick and scored with a low powered shot. Swindon didn't bother having a wall, and Evans didn't attempt to save it until it was too late and Swindon found themselves 1-0 down.

At half time the Swindon directors, and club officals gave out £5 vouchers to the travelling Swindon fans. They however was no sign of chairman Willie Carson, but Sandy Gray was there.

Jamie Cureton came close to getting a Swindon goal with his shot going just wide, and Rhys Evans had to make some good saves to keep the score at just 1-0 to Hartlepool.

Rory Fallon should have equalised coming close with a header, but a few minutes later he did finally score with a header from 10 yards out after a Shakes cross to make it 1-1, and give Swindon their 5th draw in 6 games.

Swindon pushed forward to try and get a winner, and so did Hartlepool but both sides ran out of time, and it finished a 1-1 draw. Overall this was a fair result with both sides have roughly equal chances. This was a fairly average game with Swindon having played alot better, and worse in recent times.

Swindon do seem to be playing better now than they were 3 months ago, and they look like they might come back after going a goal down. However although they have improved there is still a long way to go if Swindon want to climb out of the relegation zone. Swindon now take a break for nearly two weeks before the trip to Kent on Saturday 14th January against Gillingham.
