Simon Cox started his first game since resigning for Swindon last week.
It was the worse possible start for Swindon who fell behind after only 44 seconds when a mistake from Ifil led to Phil Jevons scoring from close range to make it 1-0.
Swindon then started to have chances, but never looked like scoring in the first half.
Swindon looked much better in the second half, and had a number of corners, but still couldn't score of even come close in front of goal.
Huddersfield never looked like getting a second goal, and it was Swindon who were pushing forward looking for the equaliser, but despite coming close late on they ran out of time.
Overall a poor game, which never looked like it would be a high scoring game. Swindon's next game is at home Cheltenham Town on Tuesday evening.
