It was Notts County that had most of the early play with a number of early chances.
Swindon's first chance came after 10 minutes with Sam Parkin's header going over the bar.
Apart from a couple of half chances that were not on target Swindon barely managed to get the ball into the Notts County half.
Notts County were not that good themselves but they did hit the post before they finally scored their opening goal on 31 minutes when a Gavin Gordon shot from 20 yards hit Alan Reeves and was deflected into the net.
A minute into the second half Notts County made it 2-0 when from a corner the ball fell to Gordon who scored his second goal of the game from close range.
In the second half Swindon looked slightly better than in the first half, but still didn't manage to get any good shots on target.
None of the Swindon players had a good game, and now they seem tio struggle to score goals, whereas a month ago they were able to score 3-4 goals a game.
About the only on target shot on the game came with 5 minutes to go when Rory Fallon on as a sub had a low power shot from 15 yards out saved.
Swindon's night went from bad to wrose when Grant Smith was sent off late on for a late challenge on Notts County's David Pipe.
Overall another very poor game, which Notts County deserved to win. Swindon didn't look like they would ever score, and none of the Swindon players looked up for it, so it will be Notts County who have the home 3rd round game against Premiership Middlesbrough. It was also the first time this season I've heard calls for Andy King to go.
