Swindon have not won at Boundary Park since 1968 when behin just before half time when John Eyre scored from close range, and the ball was judged to have just crossed the line.
Bart Griemink played well to keep the score down, and saved David Reeves (Alan's twin brother) one of one with Griemink.
Eyre's also scored again when a cross found him unmarked and he was able to head the ball in.
Swindon rarely had a shot on goal, with Eric Sabin only managing a few shots on goal. His best before half time which the Oldham keeper had to make a good save.
King Said: "It had better improve and it's got to improve. I'm not standing here to criticise individuals, but there are certain things that are happening everyweek. The opposition have broken away when we are having a free-kick or corner, I can't believe it it's total indiscipline.
"We are going to have to go back to basics, and certain people are going to have to do things that I want, instead of what they want. Everything when left is still here, things that happened then are still happening now. Even Oldham at this moment in time are going out, and doing things about and buying players, I can't do that. I'm going to have to work on the training ground, which is the hardest thing and make players do what I want them to do.
"We can't afford to go out and buy players, but I just told them that if I had that option I would be changing things. They had more desire for the game and more energy, I just told the players I don't think Oldham are a good side, and we didn't do ourselves justice.
"We were a mess first half, unfortunately we couldn't sort out the situation with the boy Eyres and David Duke on the right side, and the whole balance of the side was awful. I was hoping to change it at half-time which I did, and second half I thought we looked better, without being good. We had chances and could have come away with a result, having not played well.
"If I don't have the luxury of finances then I will have to sit down with the players and work a system that we are going to be better at, and get the best out of individuals."
