Iffy Onoura made 5 changes ffrom the 4-1 defeat against Boston earlier in the week including bringing back Rhys Evans in goal to replace the suspended Tom Heaton. This was also the first reverse fixture of the season after Port Vale had won 2-1 at the County Ground back in October.
Unlike Wednesday night Swindon started well against Port Vale and had most of the chances in the first half with Fallon and Roberts both coming close.
A long pass by Rhys Evans found Christian Roberts who came close, but his shot went just over the bar.
Swindon continued the second half as they had played in the first half, and it looked like it would only be a matter of time before the scored, and then on 66 minutes after Fallon had a shot cleared off the line the ball fell to Bouazza who from 1 yard out scored on Swindon's 4th attempt after the goal mouth scramble.
Swindon pushed forward to get a second goal, and came close but they didn't score another goal. Then on 87 minutes Port Vale equalised with a header from Michael Husbands after a corner. The first shot had been saved by then Husbands scored from close range with the rebound.
Overall this should have been Swindon's first away win of the season as they had most of the play for the entire game. Walking away from the ground the Port Vale fans were saying they had been lucky to get a point out of it. This was a much better game than against Boston, and if Swindon had won they they would have been off the bottom of the table as Bristol City also lost.
