Swindon fell behind after just 2 minutes when Martin Rowlands was able to score from close range after poor Swindon defending.
The game was a complete sell out with an attendance of 18,396 including 3,000 from Swindon - which was Swindon's biggest away following of the season.
Swindon's shot of goal were few and fair between, with barely an on target shot all game.
Rhys Evans was foreced to make a number of good saves to keep the score at 1-0, and keep Swindon in with a chance of getting an important draw.
Swindon should have had a last minute corner kick in the first half, but the referee blew for half time before Swindon could take the kick.
In the second half Swindon had a penalty appeal turned down after Sammy Igoe had his shirt pulled in the box, minutes later though QPR had a penalty appeal of their own also turned down.
With 15 minutes to go Andy King bought on Tommy Mooney to replace Igoe, but with three strikers up front Swindon still couldn't find the back of the net.
Overall a poor game by Swindon, which QPR deserved to win, after Swindon hardly managed a shot on goal all game. Swindon's next game is at home to Hartlepool next Saturday where they need to pick up at least a point, or hope that Port Vale lose in Swindon are going to make the play off's.
