1,089 Swindon's fans made the 90 mile trip to the Northamptonshire town of Ithlingborough, home of Rushden & Diamonds.

The ground is small and compact, but quite new. Three sides are all seater, and one end behind the home goal is terracing.

Rushden scored first with a close range header from Omandi Lowe on 23 minutes following a Rushden corner kick.

Rory Fallon started the game for Swindon replacing Tommy Mooney who had been dropped to the bench. The move was not a good one, as after 30 minutes Fallon got himself sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

Swindon had a lot of the ball throughout the game, but rarely threatned the Rushden goal. Gunney came close with a free kick which was hit into the wall, but apart from that Swindon didn't have many shots on goal.

On 62 minutes Rushden made it 2-0 with another goal from Omandi Lowe. This time he scored with a good free kick from the edge of the area beating the diving Rhys Evans. Reeves had caused the free kick after bringing down Lowe.

Overall a poor game played in poor wet and windy conditions. Swindon rarely looked like scoring, andwith only 10 men on the pitch Rusden took advantage.

Swindon's next game is Sunday at home to Brighton at the County Ground.
