Both sides had chances in the first half, but it was a fairly average half. The game was watched by nearly 23,000, including around 2,000 that had made the trip up to Yorkshire from Swindon.
After 30 minutes the referee stopped the game for five minutes, the referee then went off, and had to be replaced by his linesman. A call then went out over the PA system for any referee's in the crowd to contact a steward, so they could take over as 4th official. When half time came the board was held up by a man wearing jeans rather than the normal FA tracksuit.
The second half started well for Swindon with Tommy Mooney putting Swindon into the lead on 52 minutes with a 30 yard shot from outside the area beating the 'keeper to make it 3 goals for Mooney so far in 2004.
As few minutes later Mooney saved Swindon again when he cleared a Sheffield Wednesday shot off the line to keep Swindon in the lead. Just before this Evans had been forced to make a good save to keep the score at 1-0.
Sheffield Wednesday scored after 72 minutes when with a powerful Mark Robins header beating Evans in the Swindon goal.
Evans injured himself twice during the game, but both times was able to continue following treatment, he is though a slight doubt for this weekend's home game with Colchester.
Gurney could have given Swindon the lead on 83 minutes but his close range shot was some how forced away.
Overall the 1-1 result was fair. In was like a cup match in the second half with both sides having chances to win the game, with some good end-to-end football.
The point moves Swindon back down a place out of the play off's to 7th ahead.
