Peter Brezovan started his game for Swindon since he broke his arm last October, and 17 year old youth team member Ben Tozer also started his first ever senior game.
Swindon should have taken the lead in the first half when a cross should have found Jerel Ifil who was at the back post and only needed to touch the ball for him to score, but somehow he missed.
Charlton took the lead after 52 minutes with a header from Darren Ambrose beating Brezovan in the Swindon goal.
Then on 62 minutes Charlton made it 2-0 with a penalty which had to be retaken, but it didn't matter as Andy Reid scored both times we a well taken kick.
Overall Swindon played well, but Charlton who have only just been relegated from the Premiership and should go straight back up were the better team and had more of the play, and Swindon didn't get that many chances on goal. Swindon are now back in league action on Saturday with the visit of Luton Town.
