Swindon got off to a good start, with Sam Parkin coming close after only 10 minutes.
It was a wet and windy games, with the weather a bit like the Stevenage FA Cup game a few years ago when goal kicks were unable to even reach the half way line, and from the other end in the first half Rhys Evans came close to scoring as the wind carried the ball to entire pitch.
It was Colchester who took the lead on 31 minutes when from a corner Gavin Johnson was able to head the ball in from 10 yards out.
Then on 39 minutes Colchester got a second goal when poor defending meant that Danns was able to score from close range.
Swindon had a corner just before half time, but were unable to score.
In the second half new loan signing Jamie Slabber came in in place of Steve Robinson. Slabber looked good, but was unable to score as he wasn't given enough of the ball.
Swindon's second half got off to the worse possible start when on 47 minutes Colchester made it 3-0, but Evans was unable to clear the ball away due to the strong winds, so the ball fell to Garcia, and he was able to score as Swindon didn't manage to tackle him before he scored to just about end all hope of a Swindon come back.
About the only Swindon player who had a good game was Lee Holmes, who did his job on the wing well, but despite his crosses Swindon were unable to score.
Overall a poor game. Colchester were nothing special, but took their chances well. Although the weather was bad it was the same for both sides. Apart from the first 15 minutes when Swindon also hit the bar Swindon never looked like scoring.
Swindon's are in action on Monday afternoon when they travel to Bradford City for the first time for a few years.
