Andy Gurney and Jamie Cureton returned to the starting line up after missing out at Swansea during the week. This was a must win game for Swindon, with Milton Keynes bottom of the league, and with Swindon running out of games to avoid relegation.
7,273 fans turned up to the County Ground helped by 600 of so who made the 70 mile trip from Milton Keynes as it was another of Swindon's doomed cut price days where they also seem to lose when they cut ticket prices.
Aaron Brown was injured early on, and had to be replaced by Charlie Comyn-Platt.
Swindon had some early chances to take the lead with Jamie Cureton coming close after a pass from Chris McPhee but his shot went just over the bar.
Milton Keynes also had a few half chances but didn't look like scoring in the first half, but Evans did need to make a few saves.
Andy Gurney took a free kick from 35 yards and went for goal, but this shot went wide and didn't have enough power behind it, but a few minutes later Gurney came close again with a shot from 30 yards out in normal play.
In the 63 minute Ricky Shakes should have given Swindon the lead when he found himself with only the 'keeper who was off his line to beat, but his shot went just wide, when 95% of time a player would have scored.
Then against the run of play on 65 minutes Milton Keynes took the lead when Clive Platt was left unmarked from 7 yards out and scored to make it 1-0 to the away side.
Lee Peacock came on to replace Charlie Comyn-Platt, most fans sitting near me thought it should have been Shakes that needed to go off instead.
Milton Keynes came close to getting a second, but hit the ball just wide, and Andy Gurney also came close to scoring for Swindon.
Overall a fairly average game in which both sides were poor, and both look likely to be playing League Two football next season. A draw would have been a fair result, but Milton Keynes took their chance well, and held on. Swindon now travel to Scunthorpe for another must win game on Monday afternoon.
