Elliot Benyon scored on his Swindon debut to rescue a 1-1 draw after Rochdale looked set to take all three points back to Spotland.
The striker, signed from Torquay on transfer deadline day, tucked home David Prutton's cross from six yards out in stoppage time to deny Keith Hill's side, who had take the lead courtesy of Craig Dawson.
Both sides struggled to create chances in a poor first half, but the visitors adapted better to the windy conditions with a fluent passing game.
Midway through the half, a flowing Dale move saw a flick header across goal by Will Atkinson graze the crossbar from a pinpoint Jason Kennedy cross.
The wind continued to cause problems in the second half with Swindon not troubling Owen Fon Williams in the Rochdale goal.
The visitors looked to have taken all three points when a free-kick from Brian Barry-Murphy caused confusion in the penalty area and Dawson fired home 10 minutes from time. But Benyon scored in the first minute of injury time with his only chance of the game to give Danny Wilson's men a point.
