The first game of the new season was watched by a crowd of 10,392, as Swindon hoped to start the new 2010/11 season with win.

Brighton took the lead on 19 minutes with a good goal from Matt Sparrow beating Phil Smith, who was replacing the injured David Lucas in the Swindon goal.

Brighton were still doing well in the second half, and doubled their lead on 75 minutes when Sparrow who looked to be offside went around Smith to make it 2-0.

A few minutes later Swindon pulled a goal back. Austin was fouled by the Brighton 'keeper just outside the area. The 'keeper was lucky not to be given a red card, and was only shown a yellow card. New signing Michael Rose took the free kick, and Austin was able to score from a goal mouth scramble which followed to make it 1-2.
