Swindon started well with Lee Peacock missing a couple of early chances, and Doncaster didn't look like scoring in the first half with Swindon having a lot more of the ball.
Swindon finally scored after a good spell of football on 29 minutes with Ricky Shakes scoring his first goal for the club with a header from inside the box following an Aaron Brown corner.
On 39 minutes Swindon won a corner which they weren't expecting when the Doncaster 'keeper mishit a back pass which then went out for a corner, but Swindon couldn't make the chance mean anything.
Just before half time Swindon had a penalty appeal turned down when a Doncaster player handled in the box, but in didn't matter in the end with Swindon going into half time winning 1-0.
Swindon's other ex Bolton player Charlie Comyn-Platt then made it 2-0 on 57 minutes with a close range shot. Shortly after Comyn-Platt had to go off injured and was replaced by Andy Gurney.
Ross McCormack gave Doncaster a chance by scoring with a header on 64 minutes to make it 2-1.
Doncaster thought they had equalised but the goal was ruled out for offside. Swindon had more chances but the final score finshed 2-1 after some last minute chances with Swindon's fans having to sit through 3 1/2 minutes of stoppage time.
Overall a good win which was deserved, and it was fair result with both sides having chances, but Swindon having more of the play. The win moves Swindon up a place to 21st on 34 points, another win and they should be out of the bottom 4. Swindon's next game is on Saturday away to Bradford City.
