It was Swindon's first ever win against Nottingham Forest, and was watched by what could be the biggest attendance of the season 8,108.
After starting the game well Swindon had a couple of early chances with Rory Fallon playing his first game of the season after being suspended starting to replaced the ill Tony Thorpe. Fallon had shot wide earlier on, but was on target on 31 minutes with a shot from 10 yards out after a poor backpass by Nottingham Forest after only having the 'keeper to beat to make it 1-0 to Swindon.
Swindon's lead didn't last long as on 38 minutes Forest equalised when Commons was able to score from 8 yards out after some poor Swindon defending.
In the second half Swindon were awarded a free kick 30 yards out which new signing Nicky Summerbee took, but the ball rebounded off another Swindon player who was standing in front of the Forest wall.
Sean O'Hanlon made it 2-1 after 73 minutes with a close range header, the ball was helped across the line by Nottingham Forest's Wes Morgan, but it won't be given as an own goal. However the score board claimed that it was now 2-1 to Nottingham Forest, but was changed back to the correct score of 2-1 to Swindon a few minutes later along with the message "Sorry".
Swindon should have made it 3-1 in the final 4 minutes of stoppage time after being given a number of late corners, which they mostly wasted through time wasting, but then Swindon did manage to get a cross in, and the ball rolled across the face of the net, but they was no one there to put the ball into the back of the net as Shakes reached the ball too late.
Overall quite a good game played in the rain. Swindon looked a lot better than the last two games, but although Nottingham Forest are the favorites for promotion on this display they won't be near the top. Swindon had plenty of the play, and deserved their win. Swindon now have a trip to the seaside to face Blackpool next Saturday.
