Plymouth took the lead after 13 minutes with a close range shot from Tony Capaldit beat Rhys Evans to please the 3,000 fans who had travelled all the way up from Devon.
After a couple of months out after falling down his stairs Sammy Igoe returned to the Swindon side and went close to scoring in the first half. Hewlett and Parkin also went close to scoring in the first half, but Swindon went into the break behind by a goal.
On 58 minutes Miglioranzi came close to scoring with a 30 yard shot the hit the bar. If this had gone in it would have come close to being a goal of the season.
With 15 minutes to go Swindon made a double substitution with Rory Fallon replacing Sammy Igoe, and Brain Howard replacing David Duke.
On 76 minutes Plymouth scored the first of the four remaining goals when David Norris, who had been linked with a move to Swindon last summer, but Andy King signed Sam Parkin instead, scored from close range.
On 80 minutes Swindon got a goal back after Rory Fallon scored his first goal for Swindon from close range after a goal month scamble following a corner.
Then as the board was being held up for 5 minutes of stoppage time Sam Parkin equalised to make it 2-2 with another close range shot created from a Andy Gurney free kick after Tommy Mooney had been fouled.
Swindon were then reduced to 10 men as Steve Robinson was sent off for a 2nd yellow card of the game for a late tackle.
Still in the finals few minutes Plymouth got a winner with a goal from Marino Keith. Swindon pushed for a third goal, but ran out of time as the referee blowed for full time.
Overall a good game at times. A 2-2 draw would have been fair, so Swindon were unlucky not to come away with any points. Swindon have now dropped down to 14th in the table with play off hopes fading away.
