Before the game Wigan had won their last 11 league games in a row, and hadn't lost in the league since August 31st, but Swindon ended their record.
Swindon started well and found themselves 1-0 against the league leaders on 24 minutes thanks to a close range effort by the inform Danny Invincibile.

Then on 35 minutes Wigan who had only let in 4 goals away from home all season found themselves 2-0 for the first time this season thanks to another goal by Swindon captain Andy Gurney who found the ball at his feet thanks to a header by Sam Parkin.

Swindon could have made it 3 or 4-0 by half time, but went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Within seconds of the second half starting Swindon could have made it 3-0 with a Sam Parkin cross that Invincibile just could latch onto.

Wigan then piled on the pressure and got themselves a goal back on 55 minutes with a close range header by Scott McCulloch.

Wigan had a lot more of the play in the second half, but this didn't stop Swindon having more chances to add to the score with Invincibile hitting the post, and then the ball rolled across the line, but it just wouldn't roll over the line, and Miglioranzi who scored in the mid week draw against Blackpool having a great chance to make it 3-1 with only the keeper to beat his shot went just wide.

Wigan kept the pressure on right until the end with most of the play in the last few minutes being in or around the Swindon box, but three minutes into injury time a Swindon break almost allowed Invincibile to make it 3-1 with his shot going into the Town End, rather than the goal.

Overall a great derserved win for Swindon who managed to find Wigan on a off day. The win leaves Swindon unbeaten in 2003, and they more move up to 11th, the first time we have been in the top half of the table since August.
