Danny Wilson made just one change to the Swindon line up that lost to Fulham two weeks ago with Charlie Austin returning, and Ben Hutchinson being dropped to the bench.
Swindon took the lead on 38 minutes with another goal by Charlie Austin, making it 8 goals in 8 games. Austin had the ball just inside the box, and turned and shot, and scored to make it 1-0.
On 52 minutes Swindon scored again. Following a corner Scott Cuthbert headed the ball, which seemed to take a deflection being finally ending up in the net.
New signing Vincent Pericard was fouled in the box on 73 minutes. Billy Paynter took the penalty and sent the 'keeper the wrong way to make it 3-0.
Swindon has been piling on the pressure in the second half. Gillingham have their 'keeper to thank to keeping the score down as he made a number of good saves.
On 88 minutes Gillingham pulled a goal back with a shot from the edge of the area by Chris Palmer making it 3-1.
Overall a good game, with Swindon playing better in the second half when they could have scored 5 or 6. The win leaves Swindon in 6th place going into Tuesday nights game against Stockport.
