After a fairly uneventful first half was about to draw to a close with the score being 0-0 Swindon took the lead with a 20 yard shot from Paynter making in 1-0.
Then seconds later Austin was fouled in the box and Swindon were awarded a penalty which Paynter took and scored to make it 2-0 at half time.
3 minutes after the restart Swindon found themselves 3-0 up when Austin who looked offside was able to score after a one on one with the 'keeper.
By 58 minutes Danny Ward had made it 4-0 with a goal from 15 yards out.
Oldham scored two late goals, the first on 79 minutes from Colbeck, and their second deep into injury time with a close range header from Price.
Overall a poor game, but plenty of goals which Swindon did deserve to win. This leaves Swindon in 5th place going into Saturday's away trip to 7th place Huddersfield.
