Tommy Mooney scored his 15th goal of the season to go level with Sam Parkin at the top of Swindon's scoring chart as they saw off Rushden & Diamonds 4-2.
Mooney bagged his fourth goal in five games to move Swindon into fourth place and within sight of the automatic promotion places.
He dispossessed Leo Roget before chipping visiting goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown from 12 yards out to give the Robins a ninth minute lead.
Rushden defender Barry Hunter was spared an embarrassing own goal four minutes later when Gary Mills cleared his awkward header off the line.
But Hunter's reprieve was short lived as Swindon captain Andrew Gurney made it 2-0 from the penalty spot soon after.
Gurney planted the ball past Ashdown after Rushden midfielder Andrew Burgess had needlessly handled a Sammy Igoe cross.
Town defender Alan Reeves gifted Rushden a goal eight minutes after half time when he put the ball into his own net, deflecting a Rodney Jack cross beyond stunned goalkeeper Rhys Evans Midfielder David Duke reaffirmed Swindon's two-goal lead 15 minutes from time with his first goal in close to a year.
Duke found the corner of the net from 12 yards out after Rushden, who looked vulnerable in defence all afternoon, failed to clear Andrew Nicholas' long throw.
Jack sparked the game back into life two minutes later when he headed his 11th goal of the season, nodding past Evans at the back post after Burgess has crossed from the right.
But Rushden's hopes of snatching a late point disappeared when the hapless Hunter headed into his own net after Roget had cleared Matt Hewlett's 30-yard effort off the line.
