A goal midway through the second half by Barry Corr was sufficient to give Swindon their second away win of the season in League One and check Yeovil's recent climb towards the play-off zone.

It was a bitter disappointment for Yeovil who, in a bright first half, threatened to take the lead on several occasions but only once really troubled goalkeeper Petr Brezovan, who has been tipped for a £750,000 move to Leeds United.

That was in the 35th minute when James Walker, on loan from Charlton Athletic, swivelled and fired in a 25-yarder which cannoned to safety off a post.

Most of Yeovil's danger came from another of their loan players, Zoltan Stieber, the left-winger on loan from Aston Villa. He got in some tantalizing crosses as he tormented the defence in the first-half, but Swindon weathered the storm and came out to have the better of things in the second period.

Corr missed a good opportunity on 53 minutes when Simon Cox set him up, but made amends 14 minutes later when he was on the spot to slip the ball past goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall after the Glovers had lost possession on the halfway line.

The most controversial incident of what had previously been a fairly tame local derby came on 78 minutes when Corr tangled with Yeovil's skipper Terry Skiverton. Skiverton was red-carded after the fourth official had spoken to referee Danny McDermid.

Yeovil say they will study the video before deciding on appeal but manager Russell Slade said: "Terry says Corr kicked him when he was on the ground and as they got up he put his hand on Corr's neck to push him away. It seemed very harsh."

Swindon's acting manager David Byrne said: "It was a tremendous performance. Barry Corr has to play through injury, but we wrap him in cotton wool and he is doing a magnificent job."
