January 2005 was a mixed month on the pitch starting off by losing 3-0 at home to Colchester, then winning away 2-1 away at Bradford with two goals in 2 minutes by Grant Smith.
Other results during the month were at 2-0 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday, a 2-2 home draw against Blackpool, a 2-1 away defeat against Brentford, and going out of the LDV Vans Trophy 2-0 away to Southend United. The month finished off with a 3-0 home win over Stockport with all 3 goals being scored within 4 minutes by Heywood on 61 mins, O'Hanlon on 63, and Grant Smith on 64 minutes.
Off the pitch they were rumours that Mick Harford would join Swindon to help out Andy King, he did join in the end but not until March.
Customs were trying to close down Swindon after an unpaid £600,000 VAT bill, but they was paid off in the end, although very late.
Christian Roberts was ruled out for another two months as he needed a Hernia operation, and Andy King managed to extend Lee Holmes loan deal from Derby County for another month.
At the end of the month after 30 games Swindon were in 11th place, 5 points off the play off spots, but they never looked like getting a top 6 spot all season.
