This Time Last Year...

It was a mixed month on the pitch with a 1-1 draw away to Accrington Stanley. This was the first time the sides had met in 47 years. Swindon beat Grimsby 3-0, although Peter Brezovan broke his arm which ruled him out for the rest of the season. With no replacement 'keeper on the bench Ady Williams had to take over in goal, but he still kept a clean sheet.

Swindon were knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy 1-0 away to Wycombe, then beat Shrewsbury 2-1 away in Dennis Wise's last game in charge. Swindon then lost their final home game of the month 1-0 at home to Lincoln City.

After only a month at the club Paul Ince left Swindon as he couldn't cope with all the travelling. He ended up as manager of Macclesfield Town.

Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet both left Swindon as manager and assistant to join Leeds United. Ady Williams took over as caretaker manager at the County Ground.

Swindon were also drawn at home to Carlisle United in the FA Cup.
